Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both lawyers. When she was a kid she attended her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. At the age of 6she was enrolled into the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes for acting, singing as well as dancing. When she was 10 years old, Emma took part in many Stagecoach productions and plays. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Agents for casting found Emma through her Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been picked for these characters. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's debut on the screen in cinema. The highest-grossing movie of 2001 it set new records for its opening day revenue as well as its opening weekend earnings. Reviewers were awed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph in Britain, which is widely distributed, called her performance commendable. Emma got five nominations in recognition of her exceptional performance. Later, she won the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in the Film.
